And they do get them on rare occasions. And I've seen a goalie in hattrick injured, but only for a week and a half (he was playing goalkeeper position when he got injured). There is no benefit in reducing the midfield further if it means no other gain in team ratings. Formations and how many defenders to use should also be: as few as possible as long as the defence is good enough to stop the opponents attacks and the CA rating good enough to generate CAs. So 3-5-2 could be a viable CA formation. I'm also very doubtful about this "lose midfield on purpose". One should never deliberately lower a rating.
