Why are Election voting Results always dramatically low?
Numbers normally speak for themselves. There’s been a lot of managers highlighting this problem for seasons, well years to be honest now. I know that Sweden is far from the largest country nowdays in Hattrick, but from looking at the voting numbers coming in from Deutchland, España and other big nations it really doesn’t make me feel any better. Deutchland landed somewhere around 3%, Sweden had 806 voters out of almost 30000 active users, so somewhere around 2.6% actually voted, and for España it doesn’t look any better. What would you say if I told you could have taken the hotseat as España U20 captain by rolling out a campaign that brought only 630 votes? Seems unrealistic that you could actually win the election by getting 630 votes in a country with over 90000 active users, doesn’t it? Well - that’s what happened!
As I mentioned, the interest for the national teams, both the seniors and the U20s has always been one of Hattrick’s weak spots. There’s been talk about forcing players to vote once they’re logged in and an election is ongoing, but that would most likely just end at talks. The voting numbers for an election is at least one of the pointers for the HT* team that the interest for the national teams is still very low. It’s a one feeds the other kind of relationship I guess. We’ve also seen discussions in the conferences that managers feeling it’s confusing and annoying when all the threads regarding the election shows up, the ones that do actually care - are probably the ones that would have voted anyway, in that way the threads serves as a good reminder. Of course, some managers will read through the summary of each campaign and make up their mind, but lets face it the truth; some managers are as likely to go for a “I’LL PLAY 0-0-10 AND WE WILL WIN IT ALL, MOHAHAH!!!!” campaign posted by your local 10 year old as actually looking up the facts and go for the one that is most likely to bring success to your country - or is it?
I will leave this a very short post in order for the discussion to begin. It’s always more interesting to hear what most people think than one manager. How could we raise awareness of the elections? Are the awareness actually there but only a fragment of your nation care about it anyway? What would you change if you could?
