Youth Specialities Revealed

The HTs introduced a rather nice little feature to the Youth Academy last week - specialities discovered by the coach are now displayed automatically on the players page. This is an excellent addition to the YA as we all know that the coach speaks in his own unique language and it isn’t always 100% clear what he is telling you. Unfortunately specialities that you discover in your matches are not noted on the players page, so we still have to interpret them for ourselves…

Weather special events are perhaps the most common speciality indicators we have in the matches, and some of them are relatively easy to interpret. For example, if we see a positive comment in Sunny weather we know the player is Technical; whereas if we see a positive event in Rain we know the player is Powerful.

It becomes a little harder to gauge when it comes to negative events though, as in both Sunny and Rainy weather there are two specialities that can suffer negative events. It would be ok if the commentary was always explicitly clear, but I know form personal experience it can be easy to mistake a Quick player for a Powerful one… I think the match commentators must have gone to the same English classes as the coaches!

Here is a little guide to help you decode your youth academy negative weather events:

Sunny > Powerful:

  • <PLAYER> has a strong body for a teenager - and he knows how to use it for the benefit of the team. Today his style of play didn’t work though, the heat getting to him.
  • <PLAYER> seemed troubled by the heat and didn’t manifest himself on the pitch as potently as he usually does.
  • It wasn’t a good day for <PLAYER>, who seemed to have spent himself early in the game with his forceful play.
  • Usually a strong presence on the field, <PLAYER> looked a bit drained today under the hot sun.
  • The heat made it a terrible day for <PLAYER>, who seemed unable to keep up with the other players.

Sunny > Quick:

  • <PLAYER> didn’t pace himself at all, and after a series of optimistic offensive runs he was too tired to help out defensively.
  • <PLAYER> has the speed, but not the sense to stay put when you have to conserve energy. The heat has clearly gotten to him today, and it hurts the team defensively.
  • <PLAYER> found it hard to catch his breath today in the stifling heat.
  • <PLAYER> should learn to adjust his style of play to the temperature. Now he is out there, sweaty and panting and reluctant to help his mates out defensively.
  • The heat made it important to pace oneself, and after a few swift runs <PLAYER> found it hard to get back into position.

Rainy > Technical:

  • <PLAYER> whines about the soggy pitch and it was soon clear it also affected his game.
  • <PLAYER> had a hard time on the wet pitch, simply not moving with his usual flair.
  • <PLAYER> is usually the first one to go for a fancy dribble, but the muddy pitch seemed to affect keep his enthusiasm down .
  • The field was covered by pools of water, and the whole situation seemed to make <PLAYER> a bit grumpy.
  • The rain made it hard for players like <PLAYER> to show their best qualities in the game.

Rainy > Quick:

  • <PLAYER>, who often relies on his speed, had a rotten day on the drenched grass.
  • <PLAYER> slipped and slithered in the wet grass. His usual swiftness was nowhere to be seen today.
  • <PLAYER> did not have a good day today, often losing his footing on the muddy pitch.
  • There wasn’t much opportunity for <PLAYER> to outpace his opponents today, the pitch was bad and slowed everyone down.
  • Young <PLAYER> was slower than usual. The wet pitch seemed to be slowing him down.

  1. This is my first season and i need help

  2. this is my first season too, i want my youth team to be strong

  3. Even though interaction and comments are always welcome. Posting a comment like this might not (as you might see yourself) give you the answer you’re looking for. However I’d happily point you in the right direction:

Your first read should be the official game rules at:
    http://www.hattrick.org/Common/gamerules.asp?find=intro&

In the official rules many of the “newbie” questions are answered. You get generic answers to most of ‘how does it work?’ question you might have. Once your knowledge goes deeper than to ask “I need help”, I’d point you to the internal conference on the Hattrick site, HattriX-files (http://www.databased.at/hattrick/x-files/) and also the guide on IntroHT (http://www.introht.com/iht.php?sec=gettingstarted&lng=en&menu=2).

If you still have unanswered questions, why not ask your question to the HT-FAQ expert panel at http://ht-faq.ione.se .
